The City of Dubuque’s Upper Bee Branch Creek Restoration project received both the Special Projects Grand Place Award and the 2019 Engineering Excellence Grand Conceptor Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) in Iowa’s Engineering Excellence Awards competition. The award was presented May 14, 2019, at the ACEC Iowa Engineering Conference and Awards Banquet in Johnston, Iowa.
The award submittal was developed by IIW, PC, the Consultant Project Manager. Strand Associates, Inc.® was the prime engineering consultant for the project, leading the development of many unique components of this complex project. In addition, Strand organized public involvement meetings to understand the community’s expectations, which were used to create the master plan for this multi-phased project. Strand was also the prime engineering consultant for the previously-completed Lower Bee Branch Creek project that involved major stormwater and municipal infrastructure improvements.
