The City of Joliet, Illinois’ CSO Tunnel and Wet-Weather Treatment Facility was selected as one of ten Top Projects of 2021 by Water and Wastes Digest (WWD). This $55 million project reduced overflow frequency from eight combined sewer overflow (CSO) outfalls, as per requirements of the City’s most recent National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit, by adding significant conveyance, storage, and wet-weather treatment infrastructure to serve the City’s eastside sewer system.

This project has also received an Honor Award and Judge’s Choice Award from ACEC Illinois, a National Recognition Award from ACEC National, and APWA Project of the Year Awards from the Illinois Chicago Metro Chapter-Southwest Branch, the Illinois Chicago Metro Chapter, and the national APWA organization.
