We designed an anhydrous ammonia refrigeration system for a greenfield food production facility.

This 175,000-square-foot organic canning and frozen entrée processing plant was constructed as a greenfield facility, with central ammonia refrigeration. The system is used for production and freezer loads.

The refrigeration system consists of a 20°F high-stage, -40°F low-stage, and -10°F freezer system. Air units utilized throughout the production facility are served by a roof-mounted piping system and associated valve gangs. Compressors, tanks, pumps, and accessories are located in a central ammonia room with associated evaporative condensers on the roof of the compressor room.
