Major improvements were planned as multiyear TxDOT-funded construction contracts; however, competitive bids allowed for construction in a single contract. Improvements included reconstruction of the runway ends, overlay of the runway (to strengthen the pavement), parallel taxiway relocation to achieve a standard runway-taxiway centerline offset, paved apron reconfiguration/reconstruction/expansion, new LED airfield lighting and NAVAIDS, existing pavement crack and surface sealing, roadway relocation out of the runway approach surface, and relocation of underground utilities. Phasing plans provided for continuous runway operations during construction. We have assisted Burnet in airport improvements continuously since 2005, served on the team that provided an Airport Master Plan, and provided planning, engineering, and construction management services for a ten-unit nested T-hangar and associated hangar access taxiways.
