This project involved facilities planning, design, and construction observation for a 15 MGD average flow (33 MGD peak flow) wastewater plant.
The project addressed numerous deficiencies at the existing facility, including hydraulic capacity, limited remaining organic capacity, and rehabilitation and replacement of equipment and processes. In particular, the rotating biological contactors (RBCs) were experiencing catastrophic failure via shaft breakage, so a new activated sludge system was designed to replace the RBCs. A host of other equipment and processes were either rehabilitated, repurposed, or replaced.
In addition to process improvements, the project included more than 1,000 piles for structural support, new SCADA and remote radio telemetry, new electric utility connections, new site roads, and new heating, ventilating, and associated plumbing systems.
