As part of the design-build team, we provided civil engineering and land surveying services to develop a new, turn-key, 17 MW photovoltaic solar power generation station. Located along Old US Highway 80 in southern Arizona, the 146-acre site includes 520 rows of precisely-positioned solar panels, a communication shelter, access roads, and a small parking lot for maintenance staff. We provided an ALTA survey and set panels for the topographic aerial survey.
We prepared a civil engineering site plan, as well as plans for grading and drainage, offsite paving, and stormwater pollution prevention. Several reports and memorandums were issued to support the design concepts and meet the review requirements for the Town, County, and electric Utility. These reports detailed site elements, drainage patterns, traffic impacts, and stormwater best management practices. We also provided basic construction-phase services. These included determining the elevations of more than 13,000 foundation points.
Close coordination with the developer, contractor, public agencies, private Utilities, and other disciplines was essential to meet the tight construction schedule.
