We provided concept plan development, layout, design, and construction-related services for a wide range of improvements at the Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve in Beecher, Illinois, including new parking, walkways, lighting, and landscaping at the Plum Grove Nature Center; a nature museum with interactive activities and exhibits; new site driveways for easier access to the Nature Center and camping facilities; new individual and group camp sites, including 48 primitive campsites, two handicap accessible campsites, and one modern campsite; 3 miles of new limestone trails; two timber bridges, including one 280 feet long and 40 feet above the forest floor; a timber, dual vehicle/pedestrian bridge for access to the new campgrounds; more than a mile of new paved walking paths; and various preserve improvements like group fire rings, wetland restoration and new habitat, shelter repairs and updates, new drinking fountains, and various minor site upgrades.
