Reuse of existing tank provides thermal storage opportunity and operational savings for Sub-Zero Group.

Increased production and product line additions required a 500,000-square-foot addition to the existing manufacturing facility. The addition utilizes a pre-engineered metal building structure to match the existing building.

An HVAC system was added to condition the combined 1.1 million square feet of manufacturing, assembly, and distribution space. A 1,200-ton, chilled water plant utilizes a thermal storage tank, which was repurposed from a former fire storage basin. This equipment provides operational savings through off-peak chilled water production and storage that is used for building cooling during higher rate daytime hours. Fan coil units and water distribution piping were installed throughout the buildings for air conditioning purposes.
