Street
Main Street Reconstruction – Galena, IL
We provided engineering services for reconstruction of Main Street in historic downtown Galena. The $5 million project was constructed
in two phases to minimize the impact on Galena’s tourism industry.
The project included approximately 4,500 linear feet of complete street and utility reconstruction. Utility reconstruction was
complicated by the narrow street right-of-ways, uncertainties in the location of existing utilities, and servicing the
over one hundred and fifty shops and businesses along the project route. Following underground construction, a new concrete street with extensive streetscaping was constructed. The key component in the success of this project was the interaction of our firm with the several
hundred shop and business owners to minimize the impact on their businesses. We provided complete design, bidding, and construction-related
services for this project.
