The Waunakee Village
Center was constructed in 2005 to 2006 on along the

to provide design of the site improvements, such as
sidewalks and paths, parking lot, stormwater management,
retaining walls, lighting, grading, and restoration.
The Village Center offers a wide range of facilities and

Coldstream Research
Park Entrance
University of Kentucky Coldstream Research Park
Lexington, ky
The University of
Kentucky has undertaken the development of Coldstream
Farm, a former 1,000-acre agricultural experimentation
facility, into a world class office research park. We
provided the full complement of planning, engineering,
and construction-related services in connection with
this multi-phased development. Integral to the concept
of this project is design quality and aesthetic controls
appropriate for this flagship research park of major
importance to the Commonwealth of Kentucky. In
supporting the technical service needs for this
development, we are responsible for all site
infrastructure components associated with each of the
proposed seven (7) construction phases. To date,
construction for Phases I, II, III, and IV of this
project have been successfully completed.
Our role on this
long-term project also includes support and assistance
to U.K. in the recruitment of prospective business and
industry seeking to locate at Coldstream. This role
involves assistance in siting proposed facilities for
prospective tenants. In this capacity our development
liaison helps to identify improvement strategies and
site plan alternatives on individual lots that maximize
potential while respecting the design guidelines
established for the project. Our ability to quickly
respond to such requests is integral to U.K.’s overall
marketing strategy for the Research Park. Once a tenant
commits, we will assist in the development plan process
and related approvals with local and state agencies.
The project scope
has also included reconstruction for a portion of
Newtown Pike, one of the busiest arterials leading into
the City of Lexington. The new Aristides Boulevard,
situated opposite Marriott’s Griffin Gate Resort,
represents the main entry into this project, where
aesthetics is of prime importance. Our services included
design for the Aristides Boulevard, a wide parkway
entrance flanked by landscaped stone entrance gates, an
arched stone bridge crossing, and a 4-acre lake feature
with fountains, making this entrance one of the most
scenic points along this important corridor.
Our involvement has
included all elements of subdivision design such as
roadway geometrics, grading, storm drainage, sanitary
sewer collection and conveyance, and compliance with
groundwater protection requirements for the Royal Spring
Aquifer. We have represented the University for 15 years
on this project and have provided both construction
contract administration and resident observation
services.
