Poynette Municipal Building –
Poynette, WI
This project was awarded the American Public Works Association’s
National 2001 Public Works Project of the Year Award for
“Adaptive Reuse/Historical Preservation.”. The project included
the construction of an addition for the Village Hall and Senior
Center. The addition, while providing an elevator and stair
towers to bring the existing building up to current code and ADA
standards, provides space for Village Hall reception/waiting
areas, office and conference rooms, as well as a kitchen and
multifunctional rooms for the Village Senior Center.
Remodeled spaces in the existing 1924
building included a new second floor assembly area in the
original gymnasium that had been divided and was being used as
the Village Hall offices. An adjacent structure, originally a
service station was clad with brick and completely remodeled
into the Village Police Department. In the office portion of
the station, remodeled spaces included reception/waiting areas,
office and conference rooms, and interview rooms. The existing
service bays were remodeled to provide secure storage for two
squad cars, evidence storage, and one garage bay for a sally
port.
The HVAC design features an energy
recovery system that saves energy and money.
We provided full architectural and
engineering services for the project.
