Adaptive Reuse of Old School as Municipal Building/Community Center – Darlington, WI
Size: 51,000 square feet
We assisted the City of Darlington in obtaining a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to convert the former Middle School into a multifunctional community building. The historic two-story facility, which included classrooms, a gym, and a locker facility, was built in the 1930s.
We provided full architectural and engineering plans to completely remodel the building into a multifunctional facility, including a city hall, police department office, county offices, a senior center, a fitness center, and a daycare center.
The project received the Wisconsin Association of Consulting Engineers Achievement Award for Engineering Excellence.
