View our Building and Facilities Projects

As a full-service consulting engineering firm, we offer the convenience of meeting all your needs with one firm for your facilities and information technology (IT) projects. This includes complete planning, design, renovation and restoration, construction-related services, and administration. Our experience includes single and multistory buildings, large production-related projects, bridges and special structures such as tanks, dams, locks, and sea walls; and structural cabling, network installation, and administration.

Key Benefits

• We offer comprehensive "one stop shopping" for almost all design disciplines required on a given project. This includes structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection, and civil/site design services.

• The same project manager will oversee your project from conception through ribbon cutting…and beyond. Clients may be confident that no matter how big or small the project, there will always be a single point-of-contact within our firm.

• Our philosophy with every client is the same: we want to serve you for years and decades, not just for the duration of a single project.

Civil/Site
Our civil/site work includes survey and site layout and design.  Our site design expertise and experience includes stormwater management and utilities design, traffic and environmental impact analysis, and regulatory and zoning ordinance compliance. By virtue of our extensive engineering experience, we have developed a thorough understanding of how to combine the different elements, depending on the need and characteristics of the area being served, create an effective and efficient plant site.  With our 3-D laser scanner we have the ability to acquire locations for almost every piece of critical information, resulting in a cost-effective survey product that provides greater unobstructed detail in a shorter project delivery time and with higher accuracy.

Structural Engineering
Our structural group is comprised of 8 registered professional engineers with an average of more than 16 years experience in structural engineering. Many maintain professional registrations in multiple states. Five of our structural engineers hold Master of Science degrees in structural engineering. Our project experience includes low and medium rise buildings as well as bridges, tanks, towers, dams, retaining structures, and tunnels.

Unlike many purely structural firms, our structural engineers have in-depth knowledge of the architectural details of buildings such as cladding, roofing, doors, windows, and finishes. We understand the issues faced by our design-build and architect partners. We are typically involved in construction observation on our projects, providing valuable experience to our staff and giving our clients peace of mind.

Architectural Services
We have successfully completed a wide range of architectural design projects from programming and early conceptualization through final design and construction. We utilize a whole approach using Building Information Modeling (BIM), which improves coordination of building mechanical systems and the ability of designers to visualize the space.  We have extensive experience in the planning and space needs evaluation of municipal and private buildings and facilities. This includes ADA and code compliance reviews, development of building programs, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), architectural design, and construction phasing and scheduling. Areas of expertise include Fire/Police/EMS facilities, multi-function municipal buildings, park and recreational facilities, adaptive reuse of existing buildings, and historic preservation.

Cross Plains-Berry Fire Station
Cross Plains, WI

We will work with your community from the start to review space requirements and grant options, develop building programs, assist in site selection, and produce schematic drawings and opinions of probable cost. We will work with municipal staff and citizen committees to make buildings fit the needs and budget of the community.

Mechanical/HVAC
We provide full-service HVAC and refrigeration engineering and consultation services and have completed dehumidification projects for a number of facilities throughout the upper Midwest. Our engineers have the expertise to design HVAC, refrigeration, and dehumidification systems for all types of buildings and applications, ranging from light commercial to industrial, including specialty occupancy areas such as laboratories and chemical storage facilities.

Electrical
Our electrical staff is well equipped to manage today's complex electrical service needs. We have the expertise to develop sophisticated systems, including distributed controls with PLCs, RTUs, and computer interface, and UPS, for support, communication, fire protection, and security. In addition, we offer design services for lighting and energy management systems, which are essential components of all successful projects.

Our electrical design experience has included large facilities with 69,000-volt services and small offices with standard 120/240-volt services, as well as multimetered facilities for condominiums and apartments. Other system design experience includes exterior, architecturally-selected area lighting for offices, schools, and industrial facilities.

Plumbing and Fire Suppression
Our plumbing engineers, in coordination with our waste treatment specialists, design sanitary, storm, and process pretreatment systems for our clients. These engineers also design compressed air, natural gas, potable water, high temperature washdown, and other process utilities systems.

In addition, we have the expertise to design fire suppression systems for refrigerated warehouses using fire pump, ESFR, LDO, potassium, and chloride systems as required by local code or insurance underwriters’ criteria.

SCADA
In order to properly design a SCADA system, the engineer must have a thorough understanding of the industry and remain current with the ever-changing technology. This familiarity must be with both hardware software. Accordingly, we are listed as integrators for two leading “Human-Machine” interface (HMI) software packages. This familiarity, in combination with our knowledge of Programmable Logic Control (PLC)-based control systems, gives us the unique ability to specify a system that will allow the flexibility to use any vendor familiar with PLC technology and to easily add to the system in the future. Clients have found this to be a considerable benefit because of the cost-savings associated with using commercially-available systems and hardware.
